Spirit Warrior Facial Closeup – There are many expressions and experiences to be ascertained from the facial closeup of this Indigenous man. This is part 4 of the "Spirit Warrior on the Hunt" series and we already know this native hunter is about to bring down a large buffalo with the throw of a single javelin. The intensity in his eyes shows an inpenetrable focus on the target.
A shrewd observation of "The Hunt" shows that the hunter brought no extra spears or any other weapons to take down this very large animal; that's why the focus must be extreme, because the throw must be very accurate. Close observation also show that around the blackened area of his eyes are other facial images. In the background one can see many colorful faces as well.
Throughout the series much emphasis was place on generations of tribal customs that were practiced without exception and this series also pictorializes facial images that represents the people of past generations. The representation of generations gone by is truly significant for this Indigenous man of America because, future generations of his people will face extinction by the will of the new Euro-American settlers and their decendents. Gone will be all the simplistic days of hunting buffalo because it too, the buffalo, will come very close to extinction, by the same assailants as well. The "beauty in detail" is the remarkable impact that Native American life left on the landscape of the American experience; of course, their generational ways of living on various landscapes of this country was not completely erased from the archives of history.
