The Grand Tetons– is a national park in northwest Wyoming; is approximately 310,000 acres, the park includes the major peaks of the 40-mile-long Teton Range as well as most of the northern sections of the valley better known as Jackson Hole.
Grand Teton National Park is about 10 miles south of Yellowstone National Park. This Park was named for the Grand Teton, the tallest mountain in all the Teton Range. At 13,775 feet the "Grand Teton" rises more than 7,000 feet above the township of Jackson Hole.
The park has numerous lakes, including a good 15-mile-long Jackson Lake as well as a few streams and the upper main stem of the Snake River. At the higher elevations near the highest peaks in the range there are at least a dozen small glaciers that are visible.
Some of the rocks in the park are the oldest found in any American national park and have been dated at nearly 2.7 billion years. There is much history that can be compiled surrounding The Grand Tetons area especially about indigeous people of the land. This painting shows the Grand Tetons from a lovely spot on lake that mirrors a great portion of the mountain range. Undoubtedly the composite of skyscape, mountain range, and the foliage around the mirror lake reflection is an astonishing view of all the "beauty in detail" of this spectacular location.
