Dead River Maine in Autumn– This river is located in central Maine and played a major role in the American Revolution. In the fall of 1775 then newly commissioned Colonel Benedict Arnold led a force of over 1000 men on a grueling trip through Maine, as part of the invasion of Canada.
The Dead River River is a tributary from Maine to the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire which is also an artwork in this collection; the scenery from both river banks are noticeably picturesque especially at this time of year. The logging industry is hugely prominent in this area although, pulp mills were operating downstream, however, there are no records of any major water pollution like what was killing the Androscoggin River, NH.
It is somewhat mysterious why this river was named Dead River when its unpolluted waters, a safe tributary to a river that almost killed everything in it and around it due to reckless industrial pollution. Undoubtedly, the wonderous "beauty in detail" is all the recreational activities enjoyed by so many suggests at the Dead River, in and around this wholesome resort is anything except dead. It's an extremely popular river for whitewater boaters and rafters and the Dead River region is a scenic favorite for most outdoor enthusiasts.
